Jess Rich elected with a fantastic 48.5 % share, Labour best ever performance in Park Hill

Yesterday by-elections took place in Woodside and Park Hill & Whitgift Wards. Jess Rich was elected in Woodside with 2305 votes and with fantastic 48.5 % of vote share.

Park Hill and Whitgift missed out on electing their first Labour Councillor in Melanie Felten. She worked incredibly hard, receiving 701 votes, 31.1 % vote share, an increase of 7.6% on 2022, and recording the largest swing from Conservative to Labour since the ward was established with 9.3%. Labour’s best ever performance in this ward to date.

In the GLA election Maddie Henson’s strong campaign knocked the Conservative majority down by 7,977 votes, Labour’s best performance in the seat since 2012.

With amazing results pouring in across London and across the country it’s clear the tide is turning. Special thanks to all the members in the Labour movement across Croydon and beyond who helped to make this possible.
