We have just had the Croydon Council elections and are delighted to have the most councillors elected in Croydon of any single party, with 30.

The other councillors are made up of 28 Conservative, 8 Green (1 of whom is currently suspended by his party), 2 Lib Dems and 2 Reform.

Sadly Croydon chose not to elect our inspirational mayoral candidate Rowenna Davis, meaning four more years of Conservative Mayor Perry holding all the power in Croydon Council once more.

We shall be holding him and his Conservative cabinet to account on every aspect of their performance from finances to fly-tipping, from social care to community services, from our parks to our streets to our housing and much more besides.

We will soon be publishing some sections of Mayor Perry’s manifesto to remind ourselves of all his promises and also debunking some of the myths about his performance over the last 4-years. Watch this space.

He must deliver or be called out for not doing so. We will endeavour to help take Croydon forward once more from our position of opposition.

Huge focus will also be on the promised regeneration of our town centre that is becoming like a ghost town. We had bold plans to rebuild its heart where a hole now stands.

Its managed decline is a stain on our leadership dating back many years, and must be addressed urgently to help restore pride across our borough.

Some really excellent hard-working councillors lost their seats. Jess Hammersly-Rich in Woodside, Chris Clark in Fairfield and Chris Herman & Stella Nabukeera in South Norwood.

They will be back for sure, and deservedly so.

Some brilliant candidates were also unsuccessful this time, such as Chris Galpin in Addiscombe East, Bridget Galloway, Mathew Hill & Benji Sperring in South Croydon, Will Linsdell, Magnus Sorensen & Sangeeta Gobidaas in Crystal Palace & Upper Norwood, Leila Mohammed & Edwyn Wood in New Addington South, Davina Brown & Cliff Colvin in Fairfield, and many others.

All unelected candidates are determined to continue fighting for their communities – testament to their hard work ethic and passion for fairness.

Our 30 elected candidates are made up of a really diverse range of ages, & ethnicities, truly representing the communities that they will surely serve with distinction.

So, despite being the largest party once more we will be in opposition to the Conservative Executive Mayor, Jason Perry, and his Conservative Cabinet, who will run Croydon together.

We truly believe that the manifesto we ran on during the election campaign outlined by far the best way forward for Croydon. Instead we have 4-more years of what we consider ‘papering over the cracks’ political leadership. We shall see, and as previously mentioned we will certainly be holding the mayor to account if we see him continuing to fail Croydon.

In the meantime, we have now selected our Shadow Cabinet from amongst our very talented team. Our team reflects the diversity of Croydon and each member is honoured to represent you.
